I’ve been considering what I can do to step up and help people during the Covid-19 outbreak. Clearly, writing fiction is all very well, but not immediately helpful. Research focused on literary figures from 400 years ago is fascinating, but again, doesn’t directly help anyone who is struggling with this crisis.
The one thing I am qualified to help with (and have a lot of experience of) is emotional management. For 12 years I’ve been using EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) both for immediate stress reduction and quick dissipation of negative emotions (fear, anger, overwhelm etc) but also for neutralising the underlying triggers resulting from various (small t and large T) traumas. From 2008-2017 I was an active practitioner: I ran an EFT group in my local community centre, ran group workshops for the emotional causes of writers’ block, and offered one-to-one sessions (again, mostly for writers).
I’m now offering FREE practical stress-reduction / emotional-management sessions in a virtual group space for anyone who is struggling with their emotional response to the Covid-19 outbreak. If you’re feeling paralysed, exhausted, worried, fearful, overwhelmed – just register for a session and give it a go.
