A science graduate and former computer programmer, a series of powerful personal experiences have lead to Ros to understand the extent to which our thoughts (and associated feelings) create our reality. An advanced practitioner of the Energy Psychology techniques EFT and Matrix Reimprinting, she has had a private therapeutic practice (working chiefly with writers) since 2009.
Ros was raised as an atheist in a scientific household. Her father is Emeritus Professor of Physics. Her mother, with a first class degree in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University, turned down the chance to be an X-ray crystallographer on the research team of Nobel Prize winning DNA decoders Watson and Francis Crick, becoming instead a chemistry teacher in order to support Ros’s father through his PhD. Following her scientifically-minded parents, Ros gained a BSc (First Class Honours) in Biology at the University of Sussex in 1985, a time when Richard Dawkin’s The Selfish Gene was biology’s new bible. Her final year options were largely on the theoretical side: Evolution Theory, Animal Psychology, Animal Behaviour and Population Biology. She was inspired, and taught, by one of the greatest biologists of his generation, Professor John Maynard-Smith.
More recently she has been influenced by thinkers such as Bruce Lipton (The Biology of Belief) and Rupert Sheldrake (The Sense of Being Stared At) and the new science of epigenetics. The dogma of the primacy of DNA is now being overturned at biology’s cutting edge. As a result of the work of the New Biologists, and her own experiences of altering subconscious beliefs with the tools of Energy Psychology, Ros is fascinated with the relationship between belief and perception. It is this area of interest which essentially links her fiction (specifically, her 2015 novel Devotion), her scholarly research into Early Modern Literary Biography and the authorship question (including Shakespeare: The Evidence) and her personal-development work (How to Achieve the Impossible, Be The Writer You Dream of Being, Write the Damn Book and Reboot Me).
